Although founded in 2020, Ten Locks is in fact born from a history of drinks manufacturing dating back to 1895.

The company is part of the Kingsland Drinks group. Their site is situated alongside the Manchester Ship Canal and was historically used to transport wine and spirits by barge.

The name ‘Ten Locks’ comes from the round trip as drinks were collected and transported out to the world, passing though these physical locks as well as the metaphorical ones related to quality and taste.

The mark highlights the journey along the canal whilst also acting as a monogram for the brand name.

The angles of the arrows have been tracked to the angle of the main straight to add to the brand story and provide a more unique and balanced ratio.

Overall it is even reminiscent of an anchor, once again relating to the nautical symbolism.

Along with the main visual mark, a variety of additional motifs were created to prevent logo fatigue.

These are used to extend the brand story and unite the copy lines with a visual marker.
