Typographic identity for the home of British motorsport.

The typographic treatment is based on the racing line—the optimal path around the race track.

The line divides each character as if it were a section of Silverstone itself. This is then re-coloured in a shifted gradient which mimics the waxed bodywork of high-performance vehicles. The concept really takes shape when rendered in 3D—here the racing line becomes a peak as it carves through each letter.

The logotype was 3D printed as part of the original pitch in order to really communicate the physicality of the type.

The identity was launched in 2016 as a part of a major website redevelopment.

This is still one of the highest-profile identities I’ve been fortunate enough to create, and it’s still exciting to see it emblazoned on track cars and racing paraphernalia.
